UN envoy told to press RI on housing rights

Human rights groups have called on the United Nations special rapporteur on housing rights, Raquel Rolnik, to demand that the Indonesian government immediately resolve cases of housing rights violations, such as forced evictions and the forced expulsion of minority groups.

The UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing hosted on May 27th and 28th, in Johannesburg (South Africa), a consultation on security of tenure for the urban poor in the African continent, in partnership with the Ford Foundation and the Socio-Economic Rights Institute.

Murang’a tenants in Kenya to sue county over eviction order

TENANTS at the building that will house the Murang’a county government are challenging an order to vacate the premises. The tenants, who had requested governor Mwangi Wa Iria to let them remain in the building, have been issued a 14-day eviction notice.
