On October 21, following the presentation of her report on reconstruction after natural disasters and the right to adequate housing to the UN General Assembly, in New York, Rapporteur Raquel Rolnik will present a side event on the matter, at the same place.
The Rapporteur will speak at the opening of the event. Next, representatives of the permanent missions of Germany and Finland will open the debate. Mr. Jarmo Viinanen, the representative of Finland, will also coordinate discussions.
The presence of speakers Graham Saunders, Head of the Shelter and Settlements Department of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; and Michelle Yonetani, Senior Advisor on Natural Disasters at the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre of the Norwegian Refugee Council, has been confirmed. Also participating will be representatives of the World Bank and authorities responsible for reconstruction in countries that recently suffered disasters.
The event is open to all and participants will be allowed to make questions at the end of the presentations.
The debate will occur from 13h15 to 14h45, in Room E, North Lawn Building, United Nations, New York.
