Next month, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing, Raquel Rolnik, will present to the United Nations General Assembly, in New York, the second version of her report on housing reconstruction after natural disasters and the right to housing. Taking advantage of the occasion, the Rapporteur will also promote as a side event the debate “More than Housing Reconstruction: The Right to Adequate Housing in Disaster Relief and Recovery”, to take place in the side lines of the presentation of the report. The debate will bring together government representatives, human rights specialists, non-governmental organizations and representatives of donors agencies. The event is open to all.

* Reconstruction after disasters
On October 21, Rapporteur Raquel Rolnik will present to the United Nations General Assembly, in New York, the new version of her report on housing reconstruction after natural disasters and the right to housing, which incorporates government contributions made at the presentation of the report’s first version to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, last March, and includes recent case studies, such as Haiti and Pakistan.
