Eviction Free Zone in Bobigny

Due to a process of real estate valorization and as a consequence of the international financial crisis, a number of evictions took place in France caused by tenants’ lack of economic capacity to pay rental fees. In view of this wave of evictions the government of the city of Bobigny decided to pass a Decree determining a halt in forced evictions when rental obligations were delayed due to economic difficulties faced by tenants. The Decree classifies the city as an “eviction free zone”. The Decree was several times annulled by the France’s Administrative Tribunal.
