Special Rapporteur promotes debate during the UN General Assembly

In October, the Special Rapporteur will coordinate a side event during the United Nations General Assembly, in New York. “More than Housing Reconstruction: The Right to Adequate Housing in Disaster Relief and Recovery” aims to bring together governments, humanitarian and human rights specialists experienced in addressing disasters to discuss the integration of the right to adequate housing in disaster response.

Panellists at the side event will include Government representatives, representatives of donors agencies and international and non-governmental agencies. The event is open to all, taking advantage of the large number of State representatives, non-governmental and international organizations, and media, attending the General Assembly.

The event is scheduled from 13:15 to 14:40 on 21 October, in Room E in North Lawn Building, United Nations, New York. Kindly note that, at the end of the panel discussion, time will be allocated for a Q&A session with journalists.
