(English) This Guide, issued by the Office of the High Commissioner for HumanRights (OHCHR), focuses on how civil society can follow up on recommendations of United Nations (UN) human rights mechanisms and mandates or bodies. Readers who are not already familiar with the main features of these mechanisms are invited to refer to OHCHR’s Handbookfor civil society – Working with the United Nations human rights programme and its Practical Guides for civil society (both available here).
By reviewing a variety of follow-up methods and activities complemented by real experiences, kindly contributed by CSAs and OHCHR field presences, the Guide offers a menu of options from which CSAs can select on the basis of their own priorities and capacity. This Guide is primarily intended for CSAs working at the national level. It will be available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish soon.
