Guides and leaflets on forced evictions are reprinted for distribution. Also learn more about the Rio +20 – Newsletter # 22

From June 13th to June 22nd, Rio de Janeiro will host the Rio +20, a United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. At the occasion, Rapporteur Raquel Rolnik will take part in some debates and events. Still in the same month, the Rapporteur will attend the international colloquium “Cities are us” in Coimbra University, Portugal. In addition, next month, the Rapporteur will make available leaflets and guides on forced evictions, which have been reprinted. Also in July, from 5th to 13th, the Rapporteur will go on a mission to Rwanda.

* Rio +20
Rapporteur Raquel Rolnik will take part in some debates and events during the Rio +20 Conference on the 17th, 18th and 21st of June. The right to housing and to the city as well as mega-events will be among the themes discussed. International organizations and networks of inhabitants for the right to housing and to the city have prepared a “Call to the convergence for Rio+20”. Click here to read the text.

* Forced Evictions
The Rapporteur has just printed more English and Portuguese copies of guide “How to deal with projects that involve forced evictions and displacement?” and the leaflet “They want to evict us. What now?”. Organizations and activists interested in distributing these materials should contact us through our website.

* Colloquium in Coimbra
From June 28th to June 30th, Coimbra University hosts the colloquium “Cities are us”. On the 29th, Rapporteur Raquel Rolnik will be among the speakers in debate “Rethinking urban inclusion: spaces, mobilizations and interventions”. Click here to learn more about the event.
