(English) Brazil’s indigenous people fear Maracana stadium eviction

Over the last six years, members of Brazil’s indigenous communities have settled down on a stretch of land located a few metres from Brazil’s biggest and best-known stadium, Maracana.

As the government speeds up preparations for the 2014 World Cup, there are fears the indigenous people could be evicted.

The local government and the construction company of have yet to officially respond to concerns of the indigenous people.
